It’s that time of year again: Seed catalogs are arriving in a mailbox near you. Are you dreaming of your
summer garden, even while the snowflakes are drifting down? Come join us on Saturday, January
14th for a Seed Share at the Prairie Farm Community Center, in the classroom area, from 10 AM until
1 PM. Sponsored by the Hay River Transition Initiative, this garden-friendly event will help you get a
head-start on your springtime planting. Group orders of seeds will be coordinated, so make notes of
your most –wanted seeds and let’s save together on shipping, or split orders for those of us with small
gardens. Orders will also be coordinated for fruit and nut trees, so if you’ve been thinking about starting
a backyard orchard or adding to your edible landscape this might get your new project “in” the ground!
Have seeds saved from last summer’s garden? Bring them along to share or trade for something new.
